Women's race to get marquee spot at cyclocross Waterloo World Cup

Joe Robinson 4 Jul 2018 Step forward in gender parity as women's race given top billing alongside equal prize money Women's cycling has received one more step towards gender equity as the Telenet UCI World Cup Cyclo-cross Waterloo confirmed it would move the elite women's race to the marquee position, after that of the men. Hosted by bicycle brand Trek, the Waterloo-based race takes place at Trek's USA headquarters and forms part of the coveted World Cup series. It will now be the first of these races to flip the running order of the racing in encouraging a step towards gender equality. This follows the race's 2017 move to increase prize funds in the women's race to become the first World Cup race to offer equal prize money for both the men and women.
