Mathieu van der Poel (Corendon-Circus) shook off his crash in the Tour of Flanders, rebounding to top speed to take out the opening stage of Circuit Cycliste Sarthe on Tuesday. The Dutch champion out-sprinted Boris Vallee (Wanty-Gobert) and Bryan Coquard (Vital Concept) in the bunch kick to take the race lead over Roy Goldstein (Israel Cycling Academy), who claimed eight seconds worth of bonus sprints in the breakaway. Van der Poel leads Golstein by two seconds, wtih Vallee in third two further seconds adrift.
