Joe Robinson 17 Jun 2020 Dutchman airlifted to hospital after training crash that saw him swerve to avoid geese Double Monument winner Niki Terpstra is in hospital with extensive injuries after suffering a heavy crash while training. The 36-year-old was moto-pacing behind some friends between Enkhuizen and Lelystad in his native Netherlands when he had to swerve to avoid geese. Terpstra then hit a rock which caused him to crash . The Direct-Energie man was airlifted to hospital where he received intensive care treatment for a collapsed lung, concussion, broken ribs and broken collarbone. Thankfully, the rider's wife Ramon Terpstra confirmed via social media that he 'is not in mortal danger' but will remain in hospital for the coming days. Helaas zijn de geruchten waar.
