Joseph Delves 27 Sep 2019 Late attack sees another American win ahead of Belgian Julie de Wilde American Megan Jastrab launched a late attack to win the Junior Women's Road Race at the 2019 World Championships and secure another success for the US at this year's Worlds. Coming into the last few kilometres of the 215km race, Jastrab escaped the pack with Russia's Aigul Gareeva on a technical turn on the closing circuit. Gareeva, having won the women's time trial earlier in the week, was initially unwilling to work with her American counterpart, realising Jastrab would likely have the better of her in the sprint. Eventually, though, the threat of the bunch looming behind her convinced her to take a turn, but even then, by the finish line they had only a small advantage left to play with.
