Jack Elton-Walters 7 May 2018 Greg Van Avermaet took the overall win at the 2018 Tour de Yorkshire in honour of the recently passed team owner Greg Van Avermaet dedicated his Tour de Yorkshire overall win to Andy Rihs, BMC's owner who died recently . Van Avermaet said it had been the team's aim to win the final stage in honour of Rihs, but that he was happy to take the GC in his memory. 'It was a goal to win the stage in honour of him [Rihs]', Van Avermaet said from behind the podium after finishing second on the final stage. 'For us he was a big loss, he supported us for many years,' BMC's leader continued ahead of the funeral which will take place today, Monday.
