Kirsten Wild wins stage 2 at the Giro Rosa

Kirsten Wild ( Wiggle High5 ) took stage 2 of the Giro Rosa , winning the sprint in Ovada and beating Giorgia Bronzini (Cylance) and European champion Marianne Vos (WaowDeals). Lucinda Brand (Team Sunweb) picked up bonus seconds at the intermediate sprints during the stage and took the maglia rosa of the race leader off her teammate Ellen van Dijk. Stage 2 covered 120.4km in two big loops around Ovada, crossing the finish line for the first time after 54km. There were a number of small hills in the first two thirds of the stage, and although there were some attacks, the peloton did not let anyone go for a long time. Sheyla Gutiérrez (Cylance) went on a solo break after 52 kilometres, and the Spaniard got a gap of up to 2:30 minutes on the peloton very fast.
