Giro d'Italia 2020 to start in Budapest, Hungary

Joe Robinson 15 Apr 2019 Eastern Europe to experience Grand Tour racing as Giro ventures abroad for 14th time in history Hungary will become the latest country to host a Grand Tour grand depart as the Giro d'Italia announced Budapest as the host for the race's Grande Partenza in 2020. Announced in Budapest by race organiser RCS and members of the Hungarian government, the race will start with a stage in the nation's capital before two further stages outside of the city. After this, the race will return to Italy. The announcement of Budapest is all part of RCS's attempt to make the Giro a more international race with this will be the 14th occasion in which the race has begun outside of Italy, starting with its San Marino Grande Partenza in 1965.
