Joe Robinson 20 Aug 2019 Geraint Thomas skips Vuelta a Espana as British team backs youth in Spain Tao Geoghegan Hart will be given the opportunity to lead Team Ineos at the Vuelta a Espana after crashing out the Giro d'Italia earlier in the year as Geraint Thomas skips the race to focus on the World Championships in Yorkshire . The London-born climber will share General Classification responsibilities with Dutch super-domestique Wout Poels at the race that starts with a team time trial in Torrevieja on Saturday 24th August . Geoghegan Hart was handed joint leadership at the Giro in May, alongside Pavel Sivakov, but was forced to abandon on Stage 13 after a crash.
