Deignan to make racing comeback at next month’s Tour de Yorkshire

Joe Robinson 9 Apr 2019 Yorkshirewoman returns to home race in preparation for World Championships in September Lizzie Deignan will ride the Tour de Yorkshire next month as she confirms her return to racing following the birth of her first child last September. The Yorkshirewoman will officially make her racing comeback at the Amstel Gold Race later this month before lining up at her home race on Friday 3rd May. The 30-year-old has not competed since the 2017 World Championships road race in Bergen, having taken an 18-month maternity break around the birth of her daughter Orla. Deignan, who now rides for Trek-Segafredo, is focusing her return to racing around preparations for the World Championships later this year. This year’s Worlds will also be in Yorkshire, centring around the town of Harrogate, which is just 10 miles away from Deignan’s hometown of Otley.
