Deignan returns to Tour de Yorkshire following child birth

Joe Robinson 9 Apr 2019 Yorkshirewoman returns to home race in search for form before World Championships in September Lizzie Deignan will ride the Tour de Yorkshire next month as she confirms her racing comeback following the birth of her first child last September. The Yorkshirewoman will return to racing in Europe later this month after her 18-month maternity break before lining up at her home race on Friday 3rd May. The 30-year-old has not competed since the 2017 World Championships road race in Bergen, taking time away from the sport to give birth to her daughter Orla. Deignan's ambitions are to return to racing now with the view of racing the World Championships this Spring. This year's Worlds will also be in Yorkshire, centring around the town of Harrogate just 10miles away from Deignan's hometown of Otley.
